For nineteen years, DC Central Kitchen has been “Feeding the Soul of the City” by recovering unused food, providing free, nutritious meals to shelters and other local social service agencies, training unemployed men and women in the food service industry, and offering hope through empowerment. DC Central Kitchen uses the existing ingredients of our society to strengthen bodies, empower minds, and build communities.

Their foray into the world of online fundraising began just a few years ago with the introduction of email marketing via sporadic newsletters and appeals. It slowly evolved into a more sophisticated operation in 2006 with the establishment of a communications calendar including newsletter updates regarding their program participants as well as semi-annual appeals.
